Lighting 1000 lamps: Special Interfaith Service and Meditation

The Hindu Temple of Scotland is conducting a special interfaith service on Sunday the 20th of November between 1130 am and 1.30pm, saying prayers for peace and harmony. 1000 lamps will be lit in the temple followed by recital of hymns composed 1000’s of years ago. In spirit of the Scottish Interfaith week (#SIFW2016), the Hindu temple is delighted that chief monk of Buddhist Vihara in Scotland is attending the event and leading a brief meditation session. This will be followed by recital of hymns of peace. There will be sounding of traditional drums and the event will end with light south Indian vegetarian lunch during which time there will be plenty of opportunity to meet and greet.

Details of this exciting programme is available on www.hindutempleofscotland.org and on Facebook: Sundara Ganapathy. This is an open event welcoming people of all faith and no faith and is free to attend.

Free Tour of Paisley Abbey

I am really looking forward to knowing the history dating back to the 13th Century. This would be my first guided tour of any Abbey and I am delighted that the Renfrewshire Interfaith is organising a free tour of this Abbey on Saturday the 19th of November from 11am to 12pm.

I have seen amazing photos of this beautiful Abbey on the internet.

It was a centre of learning and it is believed William Wallace was educated at the Abbey by the monks.

I hope to meet lots of people on this tour organised as a part of the Scottish Interfaith Week 2016 #SIFW2016.

I just realised that Renfrewshire Interfaith is organising an Interfaith Ceilidh and Buffet on Thursday 17th of Nov. The details are on the 2016 Scottish Interfaith week Programme on http://www.interfaithscotland.org.

I will try and attend the interfaith Ceilidh if I can juggle my work commitments!
